As corporate downsizing is becoming the rule in data processing, clientserver and distributed processing is increasing. Much of the data and software in large corporations runs on large systems under a number of operating systems including VMS/OpenVMS, UNIX, and IBM's MVS. This seminar focuses on the issues of moving applications from the proprietary to open systems.
Hardware, operating environments, development environments, management, and staffing considerations will be discussed.
The goal of this seminar is to allow the attendee to understand the issues of downsizing from large computers.
Attendees should be familiar with their corporate information technology environments - current and planned future. An understanding of the underlying technologies would be helpful but not required.
